Let me preface this with "I am a Jew and I hate the fucking Nazi's with every fiber of my being and nothing can possibly excuse their behavior". That said, while WWII and it's associated wholesale slaughters are generally thought of as the most egregious set of examples of man's inhumanity to man, the truth is far far nastier.
The USA was not only a slaver nation, but we created the concept of Concentration Camps and is responsible for the deaths of at least 20 million and perhaps as many as 100 million AmerInd and the obliteration of countless cultures. Canada is likewise guilty of similar treatment of their First Nations. The French, after centuries of religious persecution of their own people and colonial peoples around the world, and their own cruelty to AmerInds barely had a leg to stand on after forcing Germany into crushing poverty out of pique. Russia, oh don't get me started on Russia, with the Ivan the Terrible, Cossack Raids, The Civil War, and the Communist Purges, not to mention deliberate starvation of between 2.6 and 8 million Ukrainians in 1932 and 1933. But all that, even the horrors of the two world wars, is overshadowed by history's reigning champion of slaughter and inhumanity... China.
And what a History it is. Leaving aside the deathtolls caused by the Mongol Conquest, China tops the list of countries with horrific histories with an astounding 10 of the top 40 Megadeaths over the last 2000 years.
First: In history's first recorded Megadeath, durring the 21 years between 184 and 205 AD, The Yellow Turban Rebellion ravaged China and accounted for between 3 and 7 million fatalities. That would have been somewhere between 1.3 and 3.1% of all humans alive at the time.
Then: While Europe was still in the grip of the Dark Ages and the Middle East was playing host to the rise of Islam, in the seven years of the An Lushan Rebellion (755-763) somewhere between 13 and 36 million people were killed. At the time, this was at least 5.5 and at most an unthinkable 15.3% of all humanity.
Next: In the 29 year period (1340-1368) that marked the transition between the Yuan (Mongol) Dynasty and the Ming (Han) Dynasty, 30 Million People were killed. That's 6.7% of the global population at the time.
And More: In the 46 years between 1616 and 1662, as the Manchurians conquered the reigning Ming Dynasty to establish the Qing Dynasty, 25 Million People were killed. That's 4.8% of the global population at the time.
Abroad: Seeking to share the love, in the four years between 1755 and 1758, the Chinese Emperor's forces slaughtered between 480,000 and 600,000 Zunghars, which might not seem like much, but it was genocide, wiping out as much as 80% of the entire race. Those that survived the slaughter and smallpox were mostly women and children who were absorbed into the conquering Qing army's households as wives or slaves.
Back in China: In the Taiping Rebellion (1851 to 1864) & the Dungan Revolt (1862 to 1877) anywhere from 28 to 112 million people died. Or anything from 2.2 to a staggering 8.9% of the global population at the time. The Du Wenxiu Rebellion of 1856 to 1873 adds another 800,000 to 1,000,000 deaths and barely registers as a footnote.
Open Season: In the Second Sino-Japanese War (the part of WWII between Japan and China) the Japanese managed to kill approximately 1.3 million Chinese Soldiers and at least 17-22 Million Chinese Civilians (although some counts go as high as 35 Million Civilians), thus proving that you don't have to be Chinese to murder millions of innocent Chinese Peasants.
Not to be outdone by their hated rivals: The Great Chinese Famine of 1958 to 1962, caused by Mao Zedong's insane "Great Leap Forward" and the Chinese Communist Party's complete mismanagement of a 3-year drought saw deaths by starvation that almost certainly exceeded 45 million with an additional 40 million fetal deaths due to starvation. Thus the Chinese Communist Party proved that they didn't even need weapons to create a super-holocaust.
Lest one think that The Chinese are merely racking up the death totals for the fun of it, China also tops the list of deaths by flooding, holding not just the top spot at between 2.5 and 3.7 million deaths in 1931, but the second, third, fourth, fifth, and eighth slots with up to an additional 3.2 million dead.
Sure, their population is huge, so that might explain it... but it doesn't even come close. India, with it's equally massive population has none of the history of flood deaths or megadeaths. If it sounds like I'm being racist, I'm not. I have huge respect for the Chinese people historically and even today I still respect many aspects of modern Chinese Culture... but I can't say I respect their stance on human rights and the sanctity of human life.
So, when they generate clouds of pollution so thick that it chokes Japanese Cities in pea-soup smog, when they continue to hold Tibet hostage, when they suppress the Falun Gong and other religous and ethnic groups, when they speak out against Taiwan, when they protest Japan's claim over some islands in the Sea of Japan that no one lives on, when they bind their women's feet, when millions of female babies are left to die of exposure, then they go on and on about their proud and noble heritage as Earth's oldest culture... I feel a little sickened. At least the Germans have the decency to be embarrassed by their genocidal history.
